Fee Structure

My specialty is to create a Master Plan for residential landscapes.  A Master Plan is a blueprint for your exterior that will:

  1. - Provide a well thought-through diagram for the future of the site;
  2. - Save clients significant cost, time, and headaches by having most details worked out in advance;
  3. - Help guide decisions so they are congruent with the overall goals;
  4. - Generate apples-to-apples bids;
  5. - Ultimately result in a dynamic, pleasing, well-functioning garden that is cohesive.

As discussed under "Services", I offer a couple of different approaches.

MASTER PLAN:

Phase 1-Concept Development: Well-considered and hand-drawn possibilities for your space to help conceptualize the eventual direction of the project.  Typically $4000, possibly more for larger projects.

Phase 2-Layout Plan: These are biddable documents that show final decisions, including any Construction Details for hardscaping, Planting Plan, Grading, Lighting, and perhaps furniture suggestions.  Can cost $4000 and up depending on complexity.  I will provide an estimate for my time before starting this phase.

Phase 3-Oversight: I am available to send out plans for bidding and comparison, oversee installation and order materials.  I will provide an estimate for my time before starting this phase.

BILLING:  $200.00/hr, or agreed-upon flat rate for each element of the project. Reimbursement for photocopies, mileage, postage and other incidentals are billed at cost plus 10%.  Hours are billed monthly or upon delivery of drawings.  Depending on the number of revisions, Master Plans typically take 40+ hours to develop, and can take 6-12 weeks to complete. Design fees over the life of the project, including oversight of installation, generally total 15 - 20% of the installed project cost.  The client owns all the elements of the Master Plan and may hire anyone for the installation.oversee the installation of your garden.

GARDEN KICK-OFF:

For homeowners who have a pretty good idea of what they'd like to accomplish, but may not know where to start, or want some finesse to their ideas, I offer a Garden Kick-Off Service.  I will meet with you to discuss your hopes and ideas, and walk your garden with you.  I will develop a document of recommendations and a sketched proposal for the space.  If I have vendors to recommend, I will send you their information.  The fee for this service is $2000.
